Jessica Hewitt wins her first Olympic medal

Former member of the Kamloops Long Blades participated in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Jessica and her Canadian Female Team Mates won an Olympic Silver Medal in the 3000m Relay, February 18, 2014 . The Kamloops Long Blades Speed Skating Club is extremely proud to have had Jessica represent Canada at these Olympics!

David Reith awarded John Hurdis Outstanding Volunteer Award

David Reith of the Kamloops Long Blades is awarded the Speed Skating Canada John Hurdis Outstanding Volunteer Award. This award is presented to a Speed Skating Canada member whose outstanding service as a volunteer has resulted in a significant contribution to the advancement of speed skating at the national and/or international level. David is a longtime volunteer and has developed and organized a results database for the province. Using David’s database, every skater in the province is followed at all competitions and tracks personal-best times.

Kamloops Long Blades skate and take part in dryland activities on the traditional lands of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc within Secwépemc’ulucw, the unceded territory of the Secwépemc people.
